Draft the Oscar race with your friends.
An awards-season fantasy league for three to eight friends. Opinions about movies required; knowing how the voting works is not.
Bid on this season's contenders at a live auction.
On auction night, a video call of about an hour, everyone gets $300 to buy films from the board, the league's list of this season's contenders. Each film goes to one person. From then on, your films score every time they're nominated.
$110–150
Bet against a friend's film.
Each of you secretly picks one film someone else bought. That's your fade: the worse it does, the more points you earn. The fades stay sealed until they're all opened at once.
Guess the opening weekend of each new release.
Most weeks a contender opens in theaters, and the league makes a call: guess its opening weekend and its Metacritic score. Closest wins. It posts Saturday and locks Thursday night.
Opening weekend: Marty Supreme
$24.1M. Sam was closest, at $23.0M.
Draft the awards races.
Halfway through, you each draft races: a film in one category, like Hamnet for Actress. From January, every win pays whoever holds the race.

Win it on Oscar night.
The Oscars pay the most of any show, and Best Picture, the last award of the night, pays the most of all. Most points at the end wins.

For a few awards seasons I listened to The Big Picture's movie auctions and wished I could play. On a flight to the New York Film Festival this year, I started building a way for my friends to play along.
